Britain’s national gallery of international modern art opened on the South Bank in 2000 and is now the most-visited modern art gallery in the world – with good reason.

Its inspired setting in a former power station creates a dramatic light and space which shows off the collection to its best advantage. Themed around four schools – Cubism & Futurism; Surrealism, Abstract Expressionisism and Minimalism – there are works to inspire and interest both those with a general interest in modern art and those who follow a particular genre or artist.

The art on display includes classic pieces by Rothko, Warhol, Hockney, Braque, Klee, Dali, Ernst, Picasso and Jackson Pollock. I will introduce you to the highlights of the collection and the stories of the artists who created them.
